This racing sump replaces the stock oil pan and increases the oil capacity to ensure that the engine stays lubricated during aggressive driving.

The Hartech Racing Sump is a racing sump engineered by Hartech to address the oil starvation issue on the M96 and M97 engines. During sustained aggressive cornering, lateral accelerations of around 1 g cause oil to slosh to one side of the sump. This partially or fully uncovers the pickup, leading to oil pressure drops. Once pressure drops, the protective oil film then collapses, allowing metal-on-metal contact within the engine. This condition is the cause of "spun rods" - or spun connecting rod bearings - which account for 60-70% of all M96 and M97 engine failures that we see.

The Hartech Racing Sump features a deep sump design that increases the system's oil capacity and limits sloshing. By allowing the system to be safely overfilled and by retaining oil around the pickup, the sump ensures continuous oil supply during sustained cornering, maintaining stable oil pressure and protecting the engine when it needs it most.

This racing sump is designed to work with the stock baffle with a minor modification. It will not work with the X51-style baffle kit.

A high quality synthetic 10w60 race oil (like Motul 300V) is recommended in addition to the Hartech sump to maximize engine protection.

These oil drain back tubes from the M97 engine speed up oil drainage, helping maintain oil pressure when retrofitted to the M96.

The stock oil drain back system on the M96 engines features a swirl pot design, intended to de-aerate the oil after the scavenge pumps pump oil from the heads but before the oil returns to the sump. However, the swirl pot drains too slowly.

Porsche solved this problem on the M97 engine by replacing the swirl pot with a simpler drain back tube that feeds the oil to the sump wall. This allows the oil to run down to the bottom of the sump without splashing, which causes problematic foaming and excessive aeration. Our data shows that replacing the swirl pot for the drain back tubes improves oil pressure in the M96 engines.

This set of six custom connecting rods replaces the stock set of rods to endure the increased demands of Slakker engines while meeting PCA Club Racing requirements.

Deatschwerks 440cc fuel injects improve the engine's fuel flow capacity. While bigger fuel injectors don't increase horsepower on their own, they provide the additional fueling required to take advantage of the additional airflow from the other stage 2 power upgrades.

Cylinder head porting reshapes the intake and exhaust ports within the cylinder head to improve airflow efficiency as air travels from the intake manifold, past the valves, and into the combustion chamber. Porting corrects factory compromises in port geometry that cause turbulence, flow separation, and unnecessary restriction. After refinement, the ports can support greater airflow while maintaining appropriate air velocity, allowing more air mass to enter the cylinder, increasing the engine's power output.

This upgrade is recommended for:
- Stage 2 power builds

Slakker's 8000 RPM valve spring package allows the engine's RPM limiter to be safely raised to 8000. This upgrade doesn't increase horsepower or shift the power curve, but a higher redline can be advantageous in some motorsport situations. Upgraded camshafts and the intake port/polish package will help make the most of the extended rev range.

The 997.1S has a higher flow intake manifold than the base 997.1 manifold, so performing the swap provides a modest HP gain.

Fabrication of a physical dipstick for a 987.1.

Aasco's lighweight flywheel (LWFW) will improve clutch-in throttle response, meaning the RPMs will rise and fall more quickly when the clutch is in. This can save fractions of a second on track, and many prefer the more responsive feel of an LWFW.

An LWFW does cause "clutch chatter," or a chattering noise while the clutch is unengaged. With this flywheel, the chatter isn't audible from the inside of the cabin while the windows are rolled up, though some find the sound undesirable.
